pink magic

after Mary Ruefle

Pink magic is the magic of hibiscus, biodegradable glitter & the transubstantiation of flamingos. Of midwives wielding castor oil & perineal massage. Pink magic commands you build an altar to shame, then burn it down while you touch yourself. Anoint a pink candle with your personal concerns, then take the wick into your mouth like a sword. Pink magic is tired of the gender binary. That pink dress you didn’t want to wear—pink magic reconditions your thinking. Go ahead & relive that prickle of crinoline, subvert it as drag. Pink magic favors a post-Barbie podiatry, acts as road opener to your slut-crone phase.
