A Day’s Brief Accounting

The moon
is half a moon.
The very hot day
has become less so.
Many shades of green,
this landscape.
The yellow warblers
in the tree by
the parking lot, difficult
to see, but cheerful.
The afternoon
somehow failed
and now, time to sleep,
which comes
on its own terms.
