open mouth

a morning moon

noisy cranes rise up from a wide river

there’s nothing to do
about his legs, around me

his ribs were the only light in the room

when he turned over
his vertebrae had become huge, slow sand dunes
going to the sea

there was a bright sail flying over the sun

it tasted of salt
