North of 16 were directions to the west
past lemons to the heartfelt marsh and tin lagoon
        fennel and diesel on its breath
Given as a way to never mind the highways
was take a left at wisteria
past asphalt cratered like the moon
go straight to where present owned the past
        What looked like animate maps
would be fog banks sun filled ruffs
dead weeds in a field unsaddened by horses
